According to the regional statistical department, as of January 1, 2007, the population of the Braslav region was 32.2 thousand. The urban population made up 11.8 thousand people, rural population – 20.4 thousand people. There are 9.8 thousand residents in the town of Braslav and 1.95 people in Vidzy.

There are 628 villages in the Braslav region. According to the population census of 1999:

Belarusians account for 55% of the population, Poles – 25%, Russians – 17%, other ethnicities – 3%.
