March 1 – World Civil Defense Day
The purpose of the event is to foster a culture of safety in daily life and to raise awareness among the population (staff of organizations) regarding emergency situations of both natural and man-made origins.
Mandatory thematic lessons dedicated to World Civil Defense Day will be held in all educational institutions. During these lessons, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will inform children about the correct actions in response to the signal "Attention everyone!", the existing dangers in the district, and methods of protecting the population (including evacuation (temporary resettlement), civil defense shelters), as well as teaching skills for behavior in various emergency situations.
At enterprises and organizations, presentations will be held in labor collectives with information about the goals and objectives of civil defense, as well as about the existing high-risk facilities in the Republic of Belarus (district, region), and the procedures to follow upon receiving the signal "Attention everyone!". During the drills, actions (if any) for notifying the population (staff of organizations) will be practiced, including the activation of electronic siren equipment, readiness inspections of civil defense formations, as well as training the population (staff of organizations) on behavior in emergency situations, actions according to civil defense alert signals, and skills for providing first aid.
