For current high school students, there is very little time left to decide on their future path. The Braslav District Emergency Situations Department explained where one can obtain a profession related to ensuring safety and saving lives.

Those who have decided to connect their lives with the profession of a rescuer are invited by the University of Civil Protection (UCP) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus in Minsk.

The university offers training in the specialty "Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations" (for males only) and in the specialty "Fire and Industrial Safety" (for both males and females). The duration of study is 4 years. To enroll, certificates of centralized testing in mathematics, physics, and Belarusian language are required. Before enrollment, all candidates must undergo a professional selection process, which includes: conducting special checks, assessing moral and business qualities, medical examination by a military medical commission, and determining the level of physical fitness of candidates.

The advantage of studying at the UCP of the Ministry of Emergency Situations is that all cadets are provided with accommodation, meals, uniforms, state insurance, and medical care, as well as a monthly allowance (starting from 400 rubles). During their studies, cadets have the opportunity to learn practical driving and obtain a category "B" driver's license. Graduates are awarded the officer rank of "Lieutenant of Internal Service" and guaranteed employment. Graduates are usually assigned to positions based on their place of residence or to the nearest units.
Applicants who do not pass the budget competition may participate in the competition for full-time study on a fee-paying basis.

For those who do not enroll in the UCP, a good option would be to apply to the Polotsk State Chemical Technology College for the specialty "Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations," with a duration of study in the full-time department on a budget basis of 2 years and 7 months. The college accepts males aged 17 to 25 who have a certificate of general secondary education. Accommodation is provided for all in need.

Graduates of the college receive the working profession of "Rescuer-Firefighter" and are employed in the bodies and units of emergency situations in positions of ordinary and junior management staff. After graduating from the college, graduates have the right to enroll in the UCP for a shortened part-time study program (duration of study 3 years).

There is also a wonderful opportunity for children who have completed the 6th grade to enroll in the "Specialized Lyceum at the University of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus".

Students of the Lyceum are fully supported by the state (uniforms, five meals a day, accommodation, medical care).
Lyceum graduates (in their final year of study) with all grades in their certificate of 7 points and above have the right to enroll in higher educational institutions of law enforcement agencies without taking centralized testing.
