Since the beginning of 2022, 694 fires have been registered in the Vitebsk region, resulting in the deaths of 74 people, including 32 of retirement age. The causes of these tragedies were violations of stove operation rules, careless handling of fire while smoking, and leaving a burning candle unattended.

Unfortunately, for various reasons, elderly individuals sometimes find themselves completely alone. Not everyone interprets the reports from the Ministry of Emergency Situations regarding the deaths of pensioners as a warning about potential dangers in the homes of their elderly parents. Over time, that once beautiful and cozy parental home can deteriorate, the foundation can settle, the electrical wiring can wear out, and the main source of warmth – the stove – may require repairs. Living in such a fire-prone environment, elderly individuals face serious challenges and difficulties that they cannot manage alone, and delays and lost time significantly reduce the chances of rescue. It is possible that not everyone recognizes the magnitude of the problem – help and attention from children and relatives are simply essential for elderly individuals living alone.

Take care of the safety of your elderly relatives!
