It is essential to inform about safety and encourage its observance among as many people as possible. Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations participated in a seminar for social workers of the territorial center for social services of the population of the Braslav district.

There is much to discuss. Elderly residents and people with disabilities are the most vulnerable categories of citizens. According to statistics, they constitute the majority of those affected by fires. It is no coincidence that the Ministry of Emergency Situations conducts an information campaign titled "Safe Old Age." The causes of fires in the homes of pensioners are common: careless handling of fire, use of faulty electrical appliances or heating systems, and unattended food on the stove. Loss of vigilance, decreased sharpness of vision and hearing, and memory problems are factors that can play a fatal role. Repairing a stove, electrical wiring, or installing a fire alarm independently is beyond the capabilities of an elderly person. A social worker serves as a reliable assistant and a kind of safety controller for the elderly. Today, the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations had a valuable opportunity to communicate with all representatives of this profession in the Braslav district. Rescuers emphasized the requirements for heating equipment, the proper use of electrical appliances, and how to behave in case of a fire.

They urged everyone to be vigilant regarding autonomous fire alarms installed in residential premises, and to illustrate their effectiveness, they provided examples of successful activations. They also reminded about the inadmissibility of storing hot materials, particularly large quantities of firewood, near stove openings. They encouraged looking at the surrounding environment of the elderly through their eyes to eliminate potential dangers. Additionally, they discussed the mobile application of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and its practical benefits.
