Fires in baths are traditional incidents in the reports of rescuers. Sometimes, people simply forget that the bath is being heated. A simple oversight can also lead to a fire. The causes are usually cracks in the stove, chimneys, accumulated soot, and unextinguished coals.

Rescuers urge the public to pay closer attention to the condition of stoves and chimneys. Keep wooden or other flammable items away (or completely isolate) from the heating areas of the stove and chimneys. Regularly clean the stove and promptly eliminate any defects. Do not allow it to overheat in pursuit of hot steam.

Monitor the condition of the electrical wiring, outlets, and switches in the bath. Also, pay attention to the lighting in the steam room: protect the electric bulb from steam and splashes with a waterproof lampshade or cover. When lighting the stove, ensure that smoldering coals do not fall out of the firebox; place a fireproof mat in front of the stove door, made of non-combustible material measuring at least 0.5 x 0.7 meters. If you are just choosing a location for building a bath, place it at a safe distance considering firebreaks (so that in case of a fire in the bath, the fire does not spread to the house).
