Domestic Tyrant

Crimes in the sphere of family and domestic relations include unlawful acts that infringe upon life and health, personal freedom, honor and dignity of individuals, and social relations, which are based on hostile interactions or suddenly arising conflicts between close relatives and family members.

In the sphere of family and domestic relations, as a rule, every third murder and serious bodily injury occurs, and in the commission of this category of crimes, unmotivated cruelty increases; often, the behavior of criminals does not conform to sound logic and reason.

The Prosecutor's Office of the Braslav District supported the state prosecution in a traveling court session held at the Plusy Rural Executive Committee regarding the criminal case against K. for committing a crime under Article 153 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus – intentional infliction of minor bodily harm, that is, harm that resulted in a temporary impairment of health.

During the court investigation, it was established that a local resident of the Braslav District, K., on one of the days in August 2023, in the evening, while at his place of residence and being in a state of alcohol intoxication, had a scandal with his wife, during which he inflicted at least ten blows with his hands to her head and other parts of her body, causing her bodily injuries.

In the court session, K. fully admitted his guilt in the intentional infliction of minor bodily harm, that is, harm that resulted in a temporary impairment of health. In conjunction with the conclusions of expert examinations, protocols of investigative actions, and other written materials of the case, thoroughly examined during the court investigation, K.'s guilt in committing the crime under Article 153 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus was proven in full.

Considering the position of the state prosecution, the court found K. guilty of committing a crime under Article 153 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus and sentenced him to community service for a period of 280 hours.

The verdict has not entered into legal force and may be appealed and contested in the appellate procedure.
