The event was attended by heads of law enforcement and other state bodies and institutions of the region and districts, as well as prosecutors from cities and districts, and the Vitebsk transport prosecutor.
It was noted at the meeting that state and law enforcement agencies, heads of enterprises and organizations, and other prevention entities in the region are taking organizational and practical measures aimed at preventing emergencies and the death of people.
Over the past 5 years, the number of fatalities in road traffic accidents, fires, drownings, and accidents has decreased in the region, as well as the number of intentional homicides.
At the same time, issues of protecting the life and health of the population still require close attention.
In the past year, 1172 people died from external causes. The largest number of citizens died as a result of fires, alcohol poisoning, suicides, and road traffic accidents.
At the same time, the problem of alcohol abuse remains relevant, which in most cases has become the main cause of death of people in fires, as a result of suicides, road traffic accidents, and drownings.
Drunkenness and alcoholism, unemployment in socially useful work, and domestic disarray remain the main causes and conditions contributing to the commission of serious and especially serious crimes against individuals, primarily in domestic settings.
The problem of identifying family troublemakers, individuals abusing alcohol, as well as the subsequent development and application of preventive measures against them is also significant.
Violations in the field of labor discipline and occupational safety often become the causes of industrial injuries and occupational diseases.
The problem of child fatalities from external causes is also significant. In 2017, 27 children died in the region from various external factors, and in the current year, 4 children have already died.
Accidents resulting in the death of minors, along with the improper performance of parental duties in monitoring children's behavior, are facilitated in some cases by the formal approach of economic entities, local authorities, and management to the implementation of legislative requirements for strengthening public safety and discipline. There is a need to strengthen the work of educational institutions in preventing suicidal behavior among adolescents. To increase parental responsibility for their children, it is necessary to conduct more active explanatory work and training on the basics of life safety.
As a result of the meeting, a decision was made aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the work of the interested agencies on issues of preventing the death of citizens from external causes, with the assignment of responsible executors.
