Child Drownings in Water Bodies
Once again, we emphasize that the most important thing parents should remember is that children should not be near water without supervision. This is a rule that all adults must strictly adhere to. Unfortunately, young children are often drowned in water when left unsupervised by adults:
On May 18, 2022, a tragic incident occurred in the village of Zamostochye, Dokshitsy District: a child drowned. According to preliminary data, the girl was in the yard of her house with her relatives. After a while, the child disappeared from sight. The parents rushed to search for her and found her in the water located behind the house. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. They could not save the girl, who was to turn two years old in June.
On June 5, 2021, a 14-year-old boy drowned in the Malorita District. The teenager was visiting his 27-year-old sister. In the evening, he went for a walk with his 10-year-old friend. Soon, the boys went to the shore of the water body in the village of Dropeevichi. The older boy decided to swim but ultimately drowned. His body was retrieved from the water by rescuers.
On June 21, 2021, a tragedy occurred in the Ushachy District – a 13-year-old teenager drowned in Lake Bolshoye Ukleyno. It turned out that the boy was swimming with his friend. The deceased swam approximately 3 meters from the shore and disappeared under the water after a while.
On June 27, 2021, an 11-year-old boy drowned in the Grodno District. It is presumed that the circumstances of that day unfolded as follows. A family of four – 2 adults and 2 children – came to the water body in the village of Hozha. The boy decided to swim and at some point began to drown. His sister, an 8th-grade student, called for help from their parents, who were fishing 40 meters away from the incident, but the child disappeared under the water and did not resurface. On the same day, in Rechitsa on the Vedrich River, a 14-year-old girl drowned. It has been preliminarily established that the girl's neighbor took her and three other minors for a joint outing by the water. The girl dove and did not surface. Nearby vacationers tried to find her but were unsuccessful.
The danger, especially for small children, is posed not only by large water bodies but also by decorative ponds and even containers with water. Only parents who are aware of the potential dangers and take them seriously, no matter how rare and unbelievable they may seem, can protect their child from trouble. When with children near water, vigilance must not be lost for a moment:
On April 5, 2021 a tragic incident occurred in the village of Ugly, Novogrudok District. A one-year-old boy drowned in a barrel of water. It turned out that the child, who was one year and four months old, drowned in a barrel that contained only about 30 centimeters of water. Medical personnel arrived at the scene, but they could not revive the baby and pronounced him dead.

Important! Do not lose sight of children playing near water bodies. It is best if the child plays in the water with adults - only then can you be completely sure of their safety. If you are not participating in the games, ensure that the child is within your sight. |
