EU Initiative "Mayors for Economic Growth"

The Braslaŭ District joined the EU Initiative "Mayors for Economic Growth" (hereinafter referred to as the Initiative) on May 31, 2017, and became a participant because it shares the common goals and objectives of the Initiative: sustainable local economic development, increasing employment in the private sector, raising real incomes of the population, and improving the social background in accordance with the state economic policy and existing development plans of the district. In accordance with the commitments undertaken by the signatory and for these purposes, a Local Economic Development Plan has been created.

The Local Economic Development Plan (hereinafter referred to as the Plan) is a document that systematizes the experience of developing and implementing activities, providing a basis for further work on strengthening the economic position of the district. It allows authorities, businesses, public organizations, citizens, and other stakeholders to collectively address development issues and formulate effective and innovative solutions. The Plan analyzes the characteristics of regional development to determine development priorities and formulate a vision for future development.

It is important to note that the Local Economic Development Plan has been developed for participation in the Initiative, but it is not exhaustive and does not replace existing development plans. The Plan primarily focuses on the development of the private sector to stimulate growth, development, and employment. This Plan will serve as an additional document of special purpose, alongside the developed Program for the Socio-Economic Development of the Braslaŭ District for 2016-2020, the annual development plan of the Braslaŭ District, the sustainable development strategy until 2030, the passport of territorial-oriented development of the Braslaŭ District, and other regulatory legal acts.

The district's expectations from participating in the Initiative are associated with expanding opportunities to promote the district as an investment and tourism development object, a place for the implementation of international technical assistance projects; and familiarizing with the best practices of local economic development in the EU Eastern Partnership countries.
