A functioning notifier will save lives
Undoubtedly, adherence to fire safety rules in everyday life plays a significant role. However, fires still occur, and more often – in the residential sector. The conditions that contribute to their occurrence are negligence or disregard for safety requirements.
By conducting various preventive measures, campaigns, and meetings in labor collectives, as well as with residents of rural areas, the Ministry of Emergency Situations constantly emphasizes the necessity of acquiring and installing an autonomous fire alarm – a device that is simple to use and maintain, capable of saving human lives.
Every year, thanks to alarms, dozens of lives are saved in fires, including children. This means that the importance of the alarm should not be underestimated. It will respond even to a low concentration of smoke in the air, regardless of where the source of fire is located – inside the house or penetrating from outside through building structures, entrance doors, or windows. It continuously monitors the concentration of smoke in the room and, when it exceeds a critical level, emits a loud, piercing alarm signal with a power of 85 dB, capable of waking a soundly sleeping person and drowning out any noise from operating household appliances. The alarm must be operated correctly. There are frequent cases when the power element in the existing autonomous fire alarm fails, and the owners do not rush to replace it with a functional one. In this case, there is no chance that the alarm will work at the most critical moment.
It is very important to choose the correct installation location. It is not recommended to install it in the kitchen – the vapors from cooking food quickly disable the sensor.
Place it away from doors, as drafts in the room reduce the concentration of smoke. Most often, the fire alarm is placed in the bedroom. However, having one in every living room would not hurt. The optimal placement point is the center of the ceiling with a slight offset towards the window or door, where air currents occur.
It is permissible to install the alarm on the wall at a distance from the ceiling of 10 to 30 cm. It is not recommended to install it closer than 50 cm from the corner.
The alarm can be installed independently. To do this, it is necessary to simply attach the alarm with two screws to the ceiling structure. Additional information can be obtained from the operating manual, which is provided with the sensor.
