A bathhouse has burned down in the Braslaŭ district.
In the Braslav district, since the beginning of 2023, 2 such fires have already been recorded.
Thus, on 13.01.2023, the Central Operations Unit of the Braslav Ministry of Emergency Situations received a report of smoke coming from a bathhouse in the village of Charnishki, Slobodkovsky Village Council. Upon arrival at the scene, fire was observed inside the bathhouse. As a result of the fire, the ceiling and walls of the bathhouse were damaged.
The second incident occurred in early March when the rescue service received a report of a fire in a bathhouse in the village of Pahoshti, Opsovsky Village Council. In that fire, the flames completely destroyed the structure.
Such fires can be completely avoided if preventive measures are taken in a timely manner and fire safety rules are followed.
The causes of fires in bathhouses often include cracks in the stove itself, in the chimneys, and accumulated soot within them. Therefore, it is very important to monitor the condition of stoves and chimneys.
Wooden or other easily flammable items should be kept at a sufficient distance from hot parts of the stove and chimneys or be well insulated.
It is necessary to regularly clean the stove and promptly eliminate any defects that arise. Additionally, in the pursuit of hot steam, do not allow the stove to overheat – overheating is another common cause of fires in bathhouses.
Another common cause of bathhouse fires is issues with electrical wiring.
In advance, even before starting construction work, it is necessary to ensure the correct and, most importantly, safe choice of the location for the bathhouse. Do not forget about firebreaks: often, a fire that starts in a bathhouse spreads to the house if it is located nearby or even under the same roof.
When operating a bathhouse, especially when lighting the stove, care must be taken to ensure that smoldering coals do not fall out of the firebox, and the stove must have a fireproof mat made of non-combustible material measuring at least 0.5 x 0.7 meters.
It is prohibited to use gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, and other flammable and combustible liquids for lighting stoves, to burn coal, to place flammable substances and materials on the fireproof mat, to leave stoves that are in use unattended, and to entrust their supervision to children.
There are cases when people simply forget that the bathhouse is being heated. A simple oversight can also lead to a fire. When leaving the bathhouse, one should ensure that all fuel has burned out.
Do not forget about basic safety measures: it is prohibited to drink alcohol in the bathhouse, smoke, dry clothes over the stove, or leave them unattended. Remember, the fire safety of the bathhouse largely rests on your shoulders!
By following all precautionary measures and properly maintaining the equipment, you will enjoy your favorite bathhouse for many years to come.
