"Easy" money

Fraud is a specific method of acquiring someone else's property, as it is based either on the abuse of trust or on deceiving the victim. Acquiring someone else's property or monetary funds through fraud is usually the result of planned and deliberate actions.

The prosecutor's office of the district supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a resident of the Braslav district, V., accused of committing a crime under part 4 of article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus - acquiring property by deception (fraud), committed repeatedly, in especially large amounts.

The criminal prosecution body accused V. of having, from November 2014 to September 2015, with a unified intent to unlawfully and gratuitously acquire someone else's property through fraud, while on the territory of Braslav and the Braslav district, deceived the victim E. and acquired the victim's monetary funds in the amount of 10,000,000 rubles (not taking into account the 2016 denomination). V. persuaded E. under the pretext of selling him a car to fulfill obligations for the repair and further sale of this car, having no intention of fulfilling them, while intentionally failing to inform the victim about his obligations to repay debts to other citizens.

Continuing his criminal intent, V. deceived the victim D., under the pretext of an urgent need for monetary funds, and acquired the victim's monetary funds in the amount of 6,500 US dollars. He also, in October 2017, by deceiving the victim A., fraudulently acquired the monetary funds transferred to him by the victim A. in the amount of 4,000 euros, and disposed of the stolen monetary funds at his discretion.

In the court session, V. fully admitted his guilt in the committed crime and compensated for the damage caused.

Taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the court found V. guilty of committing a crime under part 4 of article 209 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to imprisonment for a term of 4 years with a deferment of the execution of the sentence for a term of 3 years.
