Summer, children, camp, and fires

Summer is a long-awaited and beloved time of year for both children and adults, and is inextricably linked to vacations, summer holidays, trips to the countryside, the sea, and the banks of rivers and lakes. Every year, with the onset of the summer period, parents send their children to school and country health camps. Statistics show that the risk of injury to children increases during this time. One of the main tasks facing the camp leader and the teaching staff is to ensure the safety of children.

FIRES

A feature of most summer children's health facilities is the seasonality of their operation and the changing service personnel. This necessitates maintaining a high level of knowledge among the staff regarding fire safety requirements and training on actions in case of emergencies. In this regard, before the start and during the operation of summer health camps, the attention of leaders should be focused on meeting fire safety requirements, taking measures to equip and maintain fire protection technical means in working order, organizing safe evacuation in case of fire, etc. After all, more than 70% of all emergencies occur due to ignorance and non-compliance with basic safety rules, which can often lead to tragic consequences:

On July 23, 2019, a tragedy occurred in Russia at the children's tent camp "Kholdomi" near Khabarovsk. One of the children placed wet clothes on a heat gun or heater used to heat the tent, resulting in the tent catching fire. A fire broke out, and of the 26 tents in the camp, 20 burned down. Four children died. A total of 189 people were resting in the camp.
On the night of September 16, 2017, a fire occurred at the children's camp "Victoria" in Odessa (Ukraine). The fire broke out in a separate wooden building, and the flames spread to the children's building, which housed 42 children. For some reason, the fire alarm did not go off, and the children woke up from the smell of smoke. The educators were able to quickly organize an evacuation; however, three children could not be saved. The area of the fire was about 1,000 square meters.
On the night of October 13, 2013, a fire occurred at the children's health camp "Zvezdny" in the village of Sukko in Anapa. A wooden attic house for staff caught fire. The two-year-old son of the maid died. The fire started from a working heater that the woman did not turn off when leaving the house.

Dear leaders, remember that the lives and health of children depend on you. Therefore, follow fire safety rules yourself and demand their compliance from your subordinates!
