In 2018, the district prosecutor initiated 3 criminal cases against "domestic abusers" under Article 154 of the Criminal Code - intentional infliction of prolonged pain or suffering by means that cause special physical and mental suffering to the victim, or systematic infliction of beatings. Convictions have been issued in all criminal cases.

Thus, the court of the Braslaŭ district, at the initiative of the district prosecutor's office, held an off-site court session in the building of the Vidzova rural executive committee, inviting individuals registered for preventive monitoring at the Braslaŭ District Department of Internal Affairs, to consider the criminal case against a 33-year-old resident of the Braslaŭ district for committing a crime under part 1 of Article 154 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

During the preliminary investigation and court session, it was established that a young man, while intoxicated, had been beating his cohabitant for six months. The young victim, a mother of two minor children, defended her "common-law" husband in every possible way, attempting to justify all inflicted bodily injuries by explaining his difficult and unyielding character.

At the same time, the court issued a guilty verdict against the man, taking into account the opinion of the state prosecutor, sentencing the accused to 1 year of imprisonment with a deferment of the sentence for the same period, and also imposing an obligation to perform community service for 80 hours.

The court's verdict has entered into legal force.
