Lukashenko: It is vital for Belarus and Russia to develop allied relations

It is vital for Belarus and Russia to develop allied relations and strategic partnership. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in Moscow at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"In the current international situation, against the backdrop of a tense environment primarily on the western borders, it is vital for us to develop allied relations and strategic partnership between Belarus and Russia," said the Belarusian leader.

Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that the geopolitical situation objectively places the task before the countries to be ready to respond jointly to any challenges.

The President mentioned the beginning of the practical implementation of the security guarantees agreement within the framework of the Union State, noting that the "Oreshnik" missile system has been on combat duty in Belarus since December.

"We are working in unison in foreign policy. The signing of the directive on mutual support and cooperation in the field of international justice will be an important step in protecting common interests, the inviolability of international law and its institutions," noted the Belarusian leader.
