The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges parents to remind children of safety rules ahead of the autumn holidays.

Dear adults! There are only a few days left until the holidays. Many children will go to visit their grandparents, while some will stay at home; however, in any case, to ensure that the holidays are safe, it is necessary to remind each of them of the basic safety rules:

• write down all necessary emergency contact numbers on a piece of paper and display them in a prominent place. Make sure that the child knows their address and can call for help in case of trouble;
• remind children once again about emergency situations that may arise in the apartment or house: gas leaks, poisoning by chemicals, electric shock;
• discuss with children the rules for preventing dangerous situations and how to behave if they occur;
• monitor what children are interested in, how they spend their free time, and plan their activities;
• remind children about the dangers of playing with explosive substances and materials, including pyrotechnic products;
• keep matches and lighters in a place inaccessible to children;
• if children are left alone at home, do not lock the entrance door from the outside, as in case of fire, this is the only way to escape.
• teach the child the correct actions in case of fire. Upon discovering a fire or signs of burning (smoke, increased temperature, smell of burning, etc.), the child of any age must immediately leave the premises and inform adults or the fire service by calling "101" or "112".

When letting a child outside, remind them of the dangers posed by open water bodies.

When sending children to the village or summer house, remind them once again of the basic safety rules. After all, playing with matches in attics, haylofts, and sheds, or setting dry grass on fire is a fairly common "entertainment" for preschool and younger school-age children.

While engaging in household chores, do not forget that the child should not be left to their own devices – you should know where they are and with whom they are playing. Give the child some task or assignment; in other words, keep them occupied with something useful and interesting while you are away.

If we are talking about small children, the advice is simple – do not leave them unattended even for a few minutes.

As a rule, we are absolutely sure that this will not happen to us and our children, and all the moralizing talks are not for us. Unfortunately, the statistics are harsh and unforgiving. This year, 11 children have died in fires in the country! It is impossible to foresee all situations and provide advice for every case in life. But it is possible and necessary to teach the child to be careful. And no one can do this better than parents. After all, your attention, love, and care are the most reliable protection.
