The Ministry of Emergency Situations launches a new national information campaign "Children are not adults! Do not leave them alone!"

To draw parents' attention to the existing social problem, the Scientific Research Institute of Fire Safety and Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus, with the support of the UNICEF Office in the Republic of Belarus, has developed a new information campaign "Children are not adults! Do not leave them alone!", the implementation of which will be a new approach to solving this complex task.

The key goal of the campaign is to influence parents' careless attitude towards children's safety issues, motivate them not to leave children unattended, organize useful leisure activities, and encourage the creation of a safe environment.

The main task is to prevent cases of death and injury of preschool and younger school-age children in fires and water bodies.

The foundation of the campaign consists of realistic images where children are depicted in the role of adults – in clothing, poses, and situations familiar to them from everyday life: a girl in her mother's shoes in the kitchen by the stove, a boy in "fishing gear" on the pier by the water body, but all of them are unattended. After all, often from early childhood, parents can hear phrases:

- You are already quite grown up!

- You understand and can do everything!

- Am I going to leave you alone for a minute? Nothing will happen!

But it is precisely in these phrases that the danger lies, as parents convince themselves that the child is already independent and mature enough. However, the thinking and psychology of a child are still forming; they do not realize the dangers and do not experience feelings of fear. A child can "play adult" by mimicking the actions of parents, not even suspecting that some of them are dangerous. Fire, electricity, water – all of this is not a source of danger for a child, but an element of curiosity. They do not know how quickly a flame can ignite. They cannot determine that an electrical appliance is malfunctioning. They do not understand that water can be deadly, even if the shore is nearby.

Thus, the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations strive to convince every parent – do not leave children unattended, even those who believe that "this will not happen with my children." No phone call, store, or task is worth risking the most precious thing. And wherever you are in a hurry, take your child with you. Let them wait nearby; after all, with you, they are safe. Take care of your children!
