The international technical assistance project "Braslav District - the first climate-neutral municipality in Belarus" is funded by the European Union.
Overall project goal
Development, legislative approval, and the start of practical implementation of the strategic Action Plan for transforming Braslav District into the first climate-neutral municipality in Belarus by 2030.
Specific project goals
- Development, public presentation, and legislative approval of the Action Plan for ensuring climate neutrality in Braslav.
- Commencement of the implementation of the strategic Action Plan for ensuring climate neutrality in Braslav.
- Implementation of a number of technical measures (installation of boilers at the central boiler house in Braslav; replacement of the heating pipe; installation of solar collectors at the kindergarten; installation of heat exchangers in a multi-storey building; partial replacement of street lighting with LEDs; partial installation of sound and motion sensors in the entrances of apartment buildings and public buildings).
- Engagement of the local population of the Braslav municipality in actively participating in activities aimed at transforming Braslav into a climate-neutral municipality.

Target groups of the project
Local authorities of Braslav District, the civilian population of the district and region, local agricultural organizations, elderly people and persons with disabilities, residents of multi-storey buildings in Braslav, tourists, journalists from local and regional media.
Expected results
- Development and approval of a strategic Action Plan for creating a climate-neutral Braslav District by 2030;
- Saving at least 1,329 TOE per year (4.4% of the district's energy consumption); increasing the share of renewable energy sources by 6.9%; improving the quality of municipal services;
- Raising public awareness in the field of energy efficiency;
- Expanding the capabilities of local authorities in Braslav District.
