On October 11 at 00:53, rescuers received a report of a fire in a residential house in the village of Plina, Ushachi district. Upon arrival at the scene, an open flame was observed in the house, and the roof had collapsed. The owner of the house, born in 1944, a 2nd group hearing-impaired disabled person, lived alone. At the time of the fire, he was in the house. During the firefighting, the Ministry of Emergency Situations workers discovered the body of the pensioner. The fire was extinguished by the rescuers; the roof was destroyed by the fire, and the ceiling, property, and walls were damaged. An investigation is underway regarding this incident, and the cause of the fire is being determined. The version being considered is a violation of the rules for the operation of electrical networks and electrical equipment.

Unfortunately, for many reasons, elderly people are often left completely alone. Not all examples in the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports about the deaths of pensioners serve as a warning about the potential dangers in the homes of elderly parents. Over time, that once beautiful and cozy parental home can deteriorate, the foundation can settle, the electrical wiring can wear out, and the main source of warmth – the stove may require repairs. Living in such a fire-prone environment, elderly people face serious challenges and difficulties that they cannot cope with alone, and delays and lost time significantly reduce the chances of rescue. And perhaps not everyone can see the huge problem – help and attention from children and relatives to elderly pensioners living alone is simply necessary.
