Violations of occupational safety requirements lead to injuries.

Strengthening labor and executive discipline, improving the quality of labor protection, introducing personal responsibility for order in production, and combating alcoholism are the most important aspects of Presidential Directive No. 1 "On Measures to Strengthen Public Safety and Discipline."

Meanwhile, the measures taken in the district have not stabilized the situation regarding fatalities and injuries resulting from workplace accidents. In 2017, there were 4 workplace accidents in the Braslav district that resulted in serious injuries, and one fatality, whereas in 2016, no such incidents were recorded.

The accidents occurred at the branch of "Braslavryba" OJSC "Hlubokaye MKK", the agricultural production cooperative "Mayak Braslavskiy", the state production unit "National Park "Braslav Lakes", and the DRSU-142 at OJSC "Torfbriquetny Zavod "Braslavskiy".

For example, in August, a driver of DRSU-142 sustained a serious workplace injury. In the ag. Druya, on the territory of the mineral fertilizers warehouse of OJSC "Braslavsky Rayagroservis", during the loading of a semi-trailer cistern cement truck with dolomite flour, the victim fell from the cistern. The cause of this accident was the failure of the director of the rayagroservis to fulfill labor protection duties, which manifested in the appointment of a responsible person for the safe conduct of loading and unloading operations from among officials who had not undergone training and knowledge verification on labor protection issues. As a result, safety measures for loading dolomite flour into the cement truck cistern were not ensured at the mineral fertilizers warehouse.

In addition, during inspections conducted by the district prosecutor's office regarding compliance with labor protection and safety regulations, violations were also found in the RayPO and the branch of "Braslavryba". For instance, in this branch, there were instances of untimely initial briefings at the workplace when transferring fish and seafood processors to cleaners of production premises, as well as when transferring processors to workers for washing and repairing special clothing. Instances of untimely repeated briefings on labor protection with production site workers and security guards were identified. At the time of the inspection, a daily control journal for labor protection status had not been established by the master of construction and installation works.

Based on the identified violations of legislation, the management of RayPO and the branch of "Braslavryba" were issued representations, measures were taken to eliminate deficiencies, and a number of officials were held accountable.
