New Year Tree

If you want to celebrate the New Year joyfully and without incidents, it is essential to follow basic safety measures:

• set up the tree on a stable base and ensure that the branches do not touch the walls, ceiling, and are at a safe distance from household electrical appliances and stoves.
• place the trunk of the tree in a bucket with wet sand and moisten it as it dries; if the tree has dried out, dispose of it, as it may catch fire like a torch.
• do not light candles or sparklers on the tree. Do not use homemade electric garlands, and do not direct party poppers towards it;
• children may be near the tree with the lights on only in the presence of adults; turn it off when leaving the room.
• keep several bags of sand or a container of water in an easily accessible place, prepare an old blanket and a flashlight.
• if the electric garland catches fire, immediately unplug it from the socket (the socket should be in a convenient and visible location) or turn off the circuit breakers in the electrical panel.
• knock the tree down to the floor to prevent the flames from rising (wallpaper and curtains may catch fire), throw a blanket over it, cover the fire with sand or pour water on it (if it is a live tree). A synthetic tree burns very quickly, and its material melts and spreads, releasing toxic substances when burning. It is dangerous to extinguish burning polymers with water due to the risk of sparks and molten mass scattering. Do not touch a burning tree with bare hands; throw a thick blanket over it and cover it with sand.
• call for help from rescuers yourself or with the assistance of neighbors, and remove children from the room.
