Rest and Injuries

In summer camps, children are excited about the opportunity to go on a hiking trip, play team outdoor games, jump, and run. It is beneficial when all this occurs under the supervision of adults; however, in the absence of supervision, a child may sustain injuries. During the summer period, the frequency of abrasions, bruises, fractures, and traumatic brain injuries increases among children. Injuries can occur during sports activities (volleyball, basketball, football), during entertainment events, games on playgrounds (swings, bars, exercise equipment), and activities in creative clubs, etc. Special attention should be paid to injuries while riding bicycles. The nature of the injuries is diverse: burns from flames are particularly dangerous and are most often observed in children during games with flammable objects and near bonfires. In 2019, an incident occurred in Lida. Assistance was provided to a 12-year-old girl who fell awkwardly during an active game in a school camp, resulting in injuries to her head and neck. During her stay at a camp in the Berestavitsa district, a 10-year-old resident of Grodno suffered a broken arm after falling from the crossbar of a football goal.
In 2015, an incident occurred at the children's health center "Lesnaya Polyana," located in the Smorgon district. A boy born in 2003, who was resting there, swung hard on the swings and attempted to jump off while in motion. As a result, he fell and sustained serious injuries - closed fractures of both forearms with displacement. The child was hospitalized.
On August 24, 2015, at the health camp "Stroitel" in the Teikovsky district of the Ivanovo region, two boys born in 2007 and 2008 were in the sleeping building on the second floor during quiet time with other campers. The children climbed onto the windowsill. During the game, one of them leaned on the mosquito net. Trying to hold on, he grabbed the other child, and both boys fell out of the window from a height of five meters onto the asphalt apron. The children were hospitalized. The boy born in 2007 died, while the other child sustained serious bodily injuries and underwent treatment in medical institutions for an extended period.
In June 2019, in a children's camp in the Birsky district of Bashkiria, a flagpole fell on a 15-year-old teenager, and the boy died from his injuries on the spot.
On July 15, 2016, in the Chelyabinsk region, at the center for youth tourism "Kosmos," 11 children and two counselors were descending a steep slope in the area of the Zaozerny ridge in the Chelyabinsk region. During the descent in an area not intended for this purpose, a 13-year-old girl fell from a height and died.
