The First Week of Summer
Children are the most vulnerable and unprotected category of the population. Every year, a significant number of fires occur due to children's mischief with fire. Particularly many dangerous situations arise during the holidays when children are left to their own devices all day. Therefore, employees of the Braslav District Department for Emergency Situations have begun conducting activities aimed at preventing child injuries and fires caused by children's mischief with fire from the very first day of summer holidays, as well as paying attention to visiting water bodies.
From the beginning of summer, children's camps have started operating in the Braslav District, and therefore children frequently visit the fire station in the city of Braslav, where rescuers organize excursions for them and discuss important safety topics during the children's holidays.
For the tenth-grade students of the district, who are resting in a military-patriotic camp based at Druyeu Secondary School during the holidays, a career orientation lesson was organized, where rescuers talked about their profession and familiarized future applicants with the admission rules for the "University of Civil Protection of the Republic of Belarus".
The Deputy Head of the Braslav Emergency Situations Ministry, Mikhail Rykun, met with the children from the specialized shift of the Ministry of Emergency Situations at the school camp "Iskorka", which was established at the State Educational Institution "Braslav Secondary School No. 2", and informed all the children about the dangers that may threaten them during summer, as well as how to behave to avoid such situations. At the end of the meeting, M. Rykun conducted a training evacuation of children and staff, explaining to the camp management how to act in case of an emergency.
The rescuers also did not overlook the rural residents, organizing "safety posts" along the routes of mobile shops.
Braslav region is renowned for its water bodies, so with the onset of warm weather, local beaches attract the attention of active recreation enthusiasts. To ensure that this recreation is safe, Braslav rescuers, together with the employees of the OSVOD, have organized the work of the "Summer Patrol", within which preventive measures are carried out to prevent accidents at water bodies.
