Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations remind the public that if you witness a fire in the forest, please take the following actions:
- call 101 or 112;
- if the fire is small, try to extinguish it with branches or cover it with soil;
- leave the fire area, remembering to move against the wind, and if possible, perpendicular to the direction of the fire;
- cover your nose and mouth with a cloth, preferably damp;
- try to reach a road, clearing, glade, riverbank, or field.

To prevent a fire in the forest, it is important to follow simple and essential rules:
- do not throw burning matches, cigarette butts, or smoldering rags;
- do not light a fire in dense underbrush, young conifers, or under tree canopies;
- do not light a fire in windy conditions and do not leave it unattended;
- do not leave self-igniting materials in the forest: rags soaked in oil or gasoline, glass;
- do not burn dry grass in forest clearings or near forested areas.
