WARNING OF ACCIDENTS INVOLVING CHILDREN

In connection with the onset of summer holidays, the prosecutor's office of the Braslav district pays special attention to ensuring the safety of minors and preventing the death and injury of children from external causes.

In June of this year, the prosecutor's office, with the involvement of competent authorities, conducted a selective inspection of potentially dangerous facilities in the Braslav district. It was established that business entities in the district, as well as local authorities and management, often approach the implementation of the requirements of the Directive of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated 11.03.2004 No. 1 "On measures to strengthen public safety and discipline" in a formal manner.

On-site inspections revealed numerous violations of the requirements of legislation aimed at preventing accidents involving children. For example, an unsafe facility is the non-operational building of the former bakery in the urban-type settlement of Vidzy. This structure is in a semi-ruined state, has free access, and its internal premises are filled with garbage, broken glass, and construction debris. In addition, there is a threat of collapse of this facility due to the dilapidation of the supporting structures. This facility poses a particular danger as it is located in the center of the urban-type settlement of Vidzy, on Soviet Street, near the State Educational Institution "Vidzy State Vocational Technical College".

Similar violations were identified during visits to the grain drying complex and the adjacent abandoned buildings in the village of Vidishki, the building of the former distillery in the village of Vidzy-Lovchynski, the building of the former public bathhouse in the agro-town of Dalekie, the building of the former rural culture house in the village of Zhdeli, and a non-operational building (apartment building) that poses a danger, which is also located in the village of Hireishi in the Braslav district. All of the mentioned structures are in a semi-ruined state and have free access.

These facilities pose a danger to children and adolescents living in nearby villages, who, having free access, visit these buildings, putting their lives and health at risk.

As part of this analysis, a repeated inspection of industrial and intra-farm quarries in the district was also conducted, which established that not all owners comply with safety standards when operating these facilities.

For instance, the industrial quarry "Domashi", located near the village of Domashi, is unsafe. This quarry is located along the road, near the settlement, has a great depth, but access to the quarry is not restricted: prohibitory signs are not installed throughout the territory. In addition, the territory of the industrial quarry "Domashi" is cluttered with household waste and garbage.

As a result of the inspection, a representation was sent to the chairman of the Braslav District Executive Committee, and the elimination of the identified violations is under the control of the district prosecutor's office.
