Warning about accidents involving children

The Prosecutor's Office of the Braslav District pays special attention to ensuring the safety of minors and preventing the death and injury of children from external causes.

During the summer period of this year, the prosecutor's office, with the involvement of competent authorities, conducted a selective inspection of potentially dangerous facilities in the Braslav District. It was established that business entities in the district, as well as local authorities and management, often approach the implementation of the requirements of the Directive of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated 11.03.2004 No. 1 "On Measures to Strengthen Public Safety and Discipline" in a formal manner.

Field inspections revealed numerous violations of the requirements of legislation aimed at preventing accidents involving children.

For instance, the building of the former apartment house in the village of Hiraishi in the Braslav District (owner – KUSP "Vidzovski") is unsafe. During the visit to this facility, it was found that the building has free access (the windows are not boarded up), construction materials and garbage are scattered inside, and the stairs leading to the second floor are partially destroyed. The unused building of the bath-laundry complex in the village of Milki (owner – KUSP "Braslavski") is also unsafe. This structure has free access, the interior is filled with garbage, broken glass, and remnants of construction materials, and there are unsafe depressions. Nearby this structure, there are residential houses. The two uninhabited apartment buildings in the village of Milki (owner – KUSP "Braslavski") pose a danger to the life and health of minors. Access to these buildings is unrestricted, and the interiors are cluttered with construction debris. A similar condition is observed in the apartment building in the village of Teterki (owner – KUSP "Braslavski").

The mentioned facilities pose a danger to children and adolescents living in nearby villages, who, having free access, visit these buildings and play there, exposing their lives and health to danger.

During the raid activities, it was established that necessary measures to bring water bodies, including artificial ones, located in the district to a safe condition have not been taken.

It was also established that the Department of Architecture and Construction, Housing and Communal Services of the Braslav District Executive Committee has developed a list of potentially dangerous facilities located in the Braslav District. At the same time, this list is incomplete and contains information about facilities that are currently absent.

The identified violations indicate a disregard for safety standards and mismanagement, which are unacceptable and must be eliminated immediately.
Following the inspection, a representation was sent to the chairman of the Braslav District Executive Committee, and the elimination of the identified violations is under the control of the district prosecutor's office.
