A girl drowned in Slawharad.

On July 28 at 15:31, local residents reported to the rescuers that a child had drowned in the city of Slavgorod on Streltsova Street at the lake (kopan).

When the rescuers arrived at the scene, no one was observed on the surface of the water, and children's belongings were lying on the shore. The Ministry of Emergency Situations workers retrieved the girl from the water without signs of life and handed her over to medical personnel. After resuscitation efforts, doctors confirmed the child's death.

The drowned girl, born in 2015, lived with her family in Slavgorod. It became known that a group of children was at the water body (not equipped for swimming) without adult supervision. When she drowned, the children ran home and informed their parents about what had happened. The adults reported the incident to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The Slavgorod District Department of the Investigative Committee is conducting an investigation into the drowning incident.

This is already the seventh child's life that has been lost this summer due to children swimming without adult supervision in the Republic of Belarus.

Do not allow such tragedies: warn children that swimming is only permitted in specially equipped places where rescuers are on duty. Explain to the child that it is not advisable to boast about swimming skills in front of friends or organize competitions. Children should never be sent to the water body alone. Try to provide children with a diverse, controlled, and most importantly, safe summer leisure. Be cautious around water and protect your children!
