Safety in the Winter Period

Dear parents and children!
We would like to remind you of some rules for safe behavior during the winter period.

To ensure that winter activities are safe for children, we strongly urge parents to take care of their children's safety. Remember that during this time, the risk of street and domestic injuries significantly increases.
With the arrival of winter and the onset of cold weather, ice cover begins to form on water bodies. At this time, it is extremely dangerous to go onto its surface. However, every year many neglect safety measures and venture onto thin ice, thereby putting their lives in mortal danger. Autumn ice from November to December, that is, until stable frosts set in, is unreliable.

Dear parents! Pay attention to your children and inform them about the dangers of going onto unreliable ice. Do not allow children to cross or stay near water bodies during the autumn-winter period. Ignorance and neglect of basic safety rules are the primary causes of unfortunate and tragic consequences.

One of the entertainments – sledding – can also lead to tragedy, so when choosing a hill, ensure that there are no water bodies, ravines, large trees, or roadways nearby.

To ensure that children's mischief is not associated with danger on the road, parents need to have discussions with their children about the rules of safe behavior on the road. The main rule of behavior on the road in winter is attention and increased caution. Visibility significantly worsens at dusk and in the dark. In the dark, it is easy to misjudge the distance to both moving vehicles and stationary objects. Visual deceptions can occur: a stationary object can be mistaken for a moving one, and vice versa. Therefore, at dusk and in the dark, be especially careful and cross the road only at pedestrian crossings.

We would also like to remind you about the rules for handling pyrotechnics. For the safe use of pyrotechnic products for yourself and those around you, it is necessary to find a suitable place where there is no crowd of people. Before using pyrotechnic products, carefully read the instructions and strictly follow them. After igniting the product, do not hold it in your hands, use it indoors, in buildings, structures, on the territories of explosive and fire hazardous objects, or near power lines.

In order to protect the rights and legitimate interests of children and to prevent emergencies, the work of all preventive entities in the district has been intensified; however, it should not be forgotten that the safety of children primarily depends on parents, who are obliged by law to ensure safe conditions for their lives and health.
