The Prosecutor's Office of the Braslav District draws the attention of adults to the need for increased supervision of children's leisure during the New Year holidays and winter break!

Failure to comply with safety rules during the winter period annually leads to fatalities and injuries, most often affecting children. The number of children's injuries, including bruises, fractures, and bodily harm due to unauthorized use of pyrotechnic devices, significantly increases during the winter period, which necessitates creating a safe environment for children where they will not be exposed to unreasonable risks.

It is essential to remember that under no circumstances should ice be tested for strength by jumping or kicking. It is also prohibited to go onto the ice during dark hours in conditions of limited visibility (fog, rain, snowfall). Ice skating is allowed only on specially equipped rinks. To avoid landslides and collapses, it is forbidden to approach steep banks of water bodies and rivers closely.

Remember that hills and slopes for sliding are places of increased danger. When sliding down a hill, it is necessary to adhere to simple rules: do not slide down until the previous slider has moved aside; do not linger at the bottom after sliding down, but move aside as quickly as possible. When choosing a hill for sliding, ensure that it is located away from the roadway.

Special concern arises from children's injuries while tubing, as they can reach high speeds and are not equipped with braking devices. Tubing should only be done on specially prepared tracks with a snowy surface. It is prohibited to tie tubes to vehicles.

During the winter period, the risk of children being injured due to the use of fireworks and firecrackers without adult supervision increases. Pyrotechnics in a child's hands is not a toy but a real threat to health. Non-compliance with safety requirements, especially when using fireworks and firecrackers, can result in serious injuries.

It is important to remember that a pyrotechnic product must have a quality certificate and instructions for use. It must be used strictly in accordance with these instructions.
Another relevant issue during the winter period is compliance with traffic rules.

To prevent accidents on the road, it is necessary to ensure that clothing, bags, or backpacks have reflective elements; to move only on the sidewalk (if absent – on the shoulder) facing oncoming traffic; to cross the road only at places equipped with traffic lights and pedestrian crossings; before crossing the road, ensure that there are no moving vehicles.

Adhering to basic safety rules will help avoid injuries during the winter period!
