Agriculture

The Braslaŭ District is located in the northwest of the Vitebsk Region. The area of the district is 2,276 km².

In the agricultural organizations of the district, the total land area is 92,491 hectares, of which agricultural land is 70,005 hectares, including arable land – 40,525 hectares. The balance of agricultural land is 23.2, arable land – 25.4. The terrain is hilly and uneven. Clay and sandy soils prevail.

The agro-industrial complex is represented by 4 open joint-stock companies, one agricultural production cooperative, 2 municipal unitary agricultural enterprises, one limited liability company, and 36 peasant (farm) households.

Agricultural organizations specialize in dairy and meat cattle breeding with the production of grain and rapeseed.

There are two livestock complexes in the district – for the breeding and fattening of cattle for 5,000 heads (OJSC "AGROVIDZY"), and for the breeding and fattening of pigs for 22,000 heads (SPC "Mayak Braslavskiy").

There are 3 milking parlors in operation: the dairy farm "Yedlovichi" of SPC "Mayak Braslavskiy" for 320 heads, the dairy farm "Opsa" for 776 heads, and the dairy farm in the settlement of Vidzy-Lavchynski OJSC "AGROVIDZY" for 870 heads.
