Preserve the harvest

Ministry of Emergency Situations informs
08.08.2022
The harvesting campaign is in full swing: every day from early morning until late evening, combines are working in the fields, as agricultural organizations know that today is when the groundwork for the entire year is laid. Ensuring the country has bread is the main task.

Unfortunately, as practice shows, fire emergencies are registered annually in places of harvesting, processing, and storage of grains. That is why the Braslav District Department for Emergency Situations has an increased focus on machinery and grain dryers.

This week, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, together with the prosecutor's office of the Braslav District and a representative of the State Energy and Gas Supervision, visited all agricultural enterprises in the district.

The focus of the raids is to educate workers involved in the harvesting of crops, inform the management of agricultural enterprises about existing deficiencies, and encourage them to take fire safety issues seriously.

The most common violations include the failure of workers engaged in harvesting, procurement, processing, and storage of grains and legumes to undergo training in fire safety minimum programs, not all workers receiving fire safety briefings, and not all equipment being provided with primary fire extinguishing means in full.

It is worth noting that constant raids by interested parties, briefings, and discussions with officials involved in the harvesting campaign are effective: identified violations are being rectified.

It is a well-known fact: it is easier to prevent trouble than to eliminate its consequences. Moreover, fire emergencies in the field entail material costs not only for the enterprise but also for the country.
