REQUIREMENTS FOR THE OPERATION OF CENTRAL HEAT-GENERATING EQUIPMENT AND HEATING DEVICES, STOVES

• Only operational heat-generating appliances and heating devices of industrial (factory) manufacture (excluding stoves) are permitted for operation.
• Heat-generating appliances and heating devices must be operated in accordance with the operational documentation
  for them, as well as the Fire Safety Rules.

The operation of stoves whose design does not meet the requirements of technical regulatory legal acts, as well as in case of non-compliance with the requirements of these Rules, is prohibited.

• The floor area made of combustible materials in front of the furnace opening of the operated heat-generating appliances (stoves) that run on solid fuel must be protected with non-combustible material at least 0.5 meters wide and 0.7 meters long. The placement of combustible substances and materials on it is prohibited.
• The minimum distances from the surfaces of heat-generating appliances to combustible substances and materials must correspond to the values specified in the operational documentation for them.
  In the absence of these values in the operational documentation, a distance must be ensured that excludes the ignition of combustible substances and materials.
• When operating heat-generating appliances
  the following is prohibited:
• using flammable and combustible liquids for ignition;
• using chimneys that do not meet the requirements of technical regulatory legal acts;
• operating with open doors;
• disconnecting automatic control devices for their operation;
• operating without supervision unless otherwise specified
  in the operational documentation for them;
• using a type of fuel not provided for in the operational documentation for them;
• continuing operation upon detection of a malfunction.
• Chimneys of heat-generating appliances operating
  on solid and liquid fuels, stoves must be periodically cleaned of soot (depending on operating conditions), but not less than once a year.
• When operating stoves, the following is prohibited:
• operating with the presence of a collapse in the fuel chamber masonry;
• using flammable and combustible liquids for ignition;
• operating with open doors, except in cases where the stove design provides for operation with an open fuel chamber;
• overheating them;
• placing combustible substances and materials on them and in close proximity to the furnace openings;
• operating with coal, coke, and gas in stoves not intended for these types of fuel;
• leaving burning stoves unattended.
• Stoves, surfaces of pipes and walls through which flue channels pass must be operational, without through cracks,
  and to detect cracks in the chimney at an early stage in the attic space – plastered and whitewashed.
• Annually, before the heating season, it is necessary to check the operability of the stove, chimneys (channels).
• Ash, coals, and slag removed from heat-generating appliances, stoves must be doused with water until completely extinguished.

¹In these Rules, stoves are understood to mean fireplaces, household heating and heating-cooking stoves made of artificial materials, operating on solid fuel.
