The tractor was stolen

The prosecutor's office of the district supported the state prosecution in the court of the Braslav district in the criminal case against resident G. of the Braslav district for committing a crime under part 1 of article 214 of the Criminal Code (unlawful seizure of a vehicle and driving it without the intent to steal).

The prosecuting authority charged G. with unlawfully seizing the tractor "Belarus 1221" while in a state of alcohol intoxication in May 2020, at the machinery yard of one of the agricultural organizations in the district, taking advantage of the unlocked doors. While driving the stolen tractor through the village, G. lost control and went off the road into a ditch.

Considering the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the court found G. guilty of committing the crime under part 1 of article 214 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to restriction of freedom for a term of 1 year and 6 months, with direction to an open-type correctional institution. Based on the Law "On Amnesty ..." dated 18.05.2020, the term of the sentence was reduced by 1 year.

In determining the sentence, the court took into account that G. had previously committed a similar crime for which he was convicted in 2016, and in 2018-2019 he was repeatedly held administratively liable for driving vehicles without a driver's license and while intoxicated.

The sentence, being unappealed and unchallenged within the established time limits, has entered into legal force.
