A bathhouse was on fire in the Braslaŭ district
On October 5 at 17:24, the duty officer of the Braslav Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a report of a fire in a bathhouse in the village of Luni, Braslav district. Emergency Ministry units were immediately dispatched to the scene.
As a result of the fire, the rafter system in the bathhouse was damaged. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The preliminary version being considered for the cause of the fire is a violation of the rules for operating stoves, heat-generating units, and devices.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds:
the operation of stoves whose design does not meet the requirements is prohibited;
the floor area made of combustible materials in front of the furnace opening of the operated stoves must be protected with non-combustible material at least 0.5 meters wide and at least 0.7 meters long. The placement of combustible substances and materials on it is prohibited;
when operating heating stoves, it is prohibited to use flammable and combustible liquids for ignition;
firing is allowed only with closed doors;
it is prohibited to fire without supervision;
it is prohibited to use chimneys that do not meet fire safety standards;
chimneys of heat-generating devices operating on solid and liquid fuels must be periodically cleaned of soot (depending on operating conditions), but not less than once a year;
when operating stoves, it is prohibited to fire in the presence of a collapse of the fuel chamber arch;
overheating must not be allowed;
it is prohibited to place combustible substances and materials on them and in close proximity to the furnace openings;
stoves, surfaces of pipes and walls through which flue gases pass must be in good condition, without through cracks, and to detect early-stage cracks in the chimney in the attic space, they must be plastered and whitewashed;
annually before the heating season, it is necessary to check the operability of the stove and chimneys (flues);
ash, coals, and slag removed from the stove's fuel chamber must be doused with water until completely extinguished.
