In the spotlight - the fight against corruption

In addressing the tasks of combating corruption and protecting the economic security of the state, law enforcement and other agencies in the district implemented organizational, legal, practical, and other measures in 2016 aimed at ensuring strict compliance with the requirements of anti-corruption legislation.

The Department of Ideological Work, Culture, and Youth Affairs conducted a sociological monitoring survey titled "Public Opinion on Corruption Issues" among 390 residents of the district. According to its results, 60% of respondents consider the level of corruption to be low, 19% high, and 21% found it difficult to answer. Among the structures most susceptible to corruption, the following were noted: medical institutions, police, and traffic police. Additionally, the highest number of respondents identified the prosecutor's office as a state body currently capable of effectively protecting citizens from manifestations of corruption.

Last year, a new Law "On Combating Corruption" came into force. The innovations enshrined in it are aimed at taking additional measures to reduce the motivation of officials for corrupt behavior and maximizing public participation in identifying instances of corruption and informing law enforcement agencies about them.

In 2016, 5 corruption-related crimes were identified in the district (1 in 2015).

The district prosecutor's office analyzed the state of combating corruption-related crimes and offenses. In addition, a constant analysis of economic sectors and social spheres for corruption was conducted to determine the objects of inspections and timely response measures.

Also, in 2016, the district prosecutor's office conducted an inspection of compliance with the requirements of legislation on public procurement of goods (works, services), as well as the effectiveness of cooperation among law enforcement agencies in identifying corruption offenses in 2015. As a result, violations were identified in the Department of Education, Sports, and Tourism, and in the municipal enterprise "Braslav-Communalnik".

A presentation was made to the head of the Department of Education, Sports, and Tourism, as a result of which one official was held accountable for disciplinary action, and another was held accountable for administrative action by the district prosecutor. The identified shortcomings were also pointed out to the director of the municipal enterprise "Braslav-Communalnik".

Overall, as a result of general supervisory activities in 2016, 5 presentations were made, 2 individuals were officially warned, 4 were held accountable for disciplinary action, and 2 for administrative action.
