ATTENTION!!! Thin ice!

Based on paragraph 50 of the Rules for the Protection of Human Life on Water Bodies of the Republic of Belarus, approved by the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated December 11, 2009, No. 1623, in order to prevent accidents on water bodies in the Vitebsk region during the winter-spring period of 2022/2023, a ban has been established on the territory of the district for citizens to go out onto the ice during the ice cover period (until the ice thickness reaches 7 centimeters), as well as during the period of intensive melting and destruction of ice.

The corresponding order has been issued by the district executive committee to prevent accidents on water bodies and to preserve human life. The document prohibits going onto the ice until its thickness reaches 7 cm. For non-compliance with the legal requirements of law enforcement officers, administrative liability is provided in the form of a fine from 20 to 50 basic units.

According to the Vitebsk Regional Public Organization of Water Rescue, the ice thickness does not reach 7 cm on the following water bodies:

Water areas of the Western Dvina and Dnieper rivers along their entire length.
Beshenkovichsky district: lakes – Ostrovenskoye, Beloe, Saro, Svyatoe, Strigoevskoe, Poluozerye.
Verkhnedvinsky district: lake – Osveyskoye.
Gluboksky district: lakes – Velikoye, Kagálnoye, Petrovskoye, Bol'shaya Plissa, Beloe, Sho.
Gorodoksky district: lakes – Chernova, Bernova.
Lepelsky district: lakes – Lepelskoye, Prosha, Shchibot, Bobritsa, Polsvizh, Lyadno. Ladosno, Okono, Borovno, Cherskoe, rivers – Essa, Ulla.
Polotsky district: lakes – Yanovo, Paul'e, Suya, Gomlya, Beloe.
Postavsky district: lakes – Luchay, Chetvert.
Rossonsky district: lakes – Klesno, Tuchak, Bredno, Beloe-Yukhovskoye, Nozhitsy, Neshcherdо, Selyavshchinskoye, Valkovskoye, Cherepititskoye, Vedito, Dolzhnoe, river Nisha.
Ushachsky district: lakes – Vechelye, Oslovo, Poluozerye, Tartak, Zvon', Glubokoye, Krivoye, Lipno, Bol'shoye Isno, Zamoshye, Plino, Yazno, Glybочка, Berezovskoye, Paul'skoye, Verkudskoye, Uroda, Mugirino.
Chashniksky district: lakes – Khotlino, Tyapino, microdistrict "Paper Factory", Beloe, Poul'skoye, Chereyskoye, Lukoml'skoye, flooded quarry Gili.
Shumilinsky district: lake Budoves.
