Special attention in summer should be paid to child injuries in water. There are known cases of injuries both in open water bodies and in swimming pools, during mass bathing periods, as well as during classes in sports sections. In most cases, the causes are parental negligence, non-compliance with safety regulations, and ordinary mischief of children in the water:

In 2018, a teenager drowned in the Dnieper during a rowing training session. The tragedy occurred in Mogilev. During a turn, the boat capsized in strong current, the teenager fell out and went under water. Basic safety rules were not followed during the training (the boy was not wearing a life jacket), which resulted in the death of a 14-year-old student of the rowing base.

In 2017, a nine-year-old boy drowned in the Dnieper in the Dubrovno district. The children were engaged in a dance club in the agrotown of Orlovichi. After rehearsal, they decided to go swimming in the river with a worker from the local House of Culture. While the woman was closing the institution, the boys ran ahead. One of them began to jump from a tire that was lying in the water. At some point, the child was swept away by a strong current. At that time, the worker of the House of Culture and several local residents approached the shore. They tried to find the boy in the water, but unsuccessfully.

On June 18, 2016, in Karelia, two canoes with children from the camp "Park-Hotel "Syamozero" capsized. The kids went on a boat trip with instructors. There were 51 people in the group, including four adults. When the storm began, two canoes with children were swept far into the lake, and they capsized, while the raft with their friends was driven to one of the islands. The camp management did not notify the emergency services about the incident. The rescue operation began only on the morning of June 19, after one of the surviving girls went to the village and informed the locals about what had happened. As a result of the tragedy, 14 children died.

In the summer of 2015, in Ingushetia, in the indoor pool "Dolphin" of the children's health camp "Armhi", the administrator allowed children into the pool in the absence of a lifeguard-instructor, without providing them with rescue equipment. As a result, a 12-year-old boy who was resting in the children's camp drowned.Another incident in the pool occurred in the spring of 2010. In the children's health camp in Tobolsk, a 14-year-old teenager drowned. The boy could not swim, so he was wearing a life jacket during swimming. In the pool, where the depth varied from 1 to 2.4 meters, 13 other children were swimming. A counselor was watching over them. After a while, the kids reported that they could not find their friend. The boy was found at the bottom of the pool, and nearby was a floating life jacket.

In the summer of 2010, in the Krasnodar Krai, during swimming at the Yeysk Spit, six Moscow schoolchildren from the camp "Azov" and a counselor drowned. Another child was seriously injured. One of the teachers allowed the children to swim in the sea without ensuring the safety of the location. Due to a sudden deterioration in weather, the children were swept into deep areas. A criminal case was initiated regarding the death of the children.
