The summary of statistical information indicates that in the Braslaŭ District, 79 crimes were registered in the first half of 2017 (11.2% compared to the same period last year). There has been an increase in crimes related to criminal investigation (mainly thefts), serious and especially serious crimes committed in public places, by previously convicted individuals, and under the influence of alcohol. At the same time, there were no car thefts, juvenile delinquency, hooliganism, attempted murders, attempted rapes, extortions, robberies, or frauds. The crime rate per 10,000 residents in the district was 30.5, compared to the regional average of 44.9, making it one of the lowest in Vitebsk Region.
The highest number of crimes related to criminal investigation was registered in Braslaŭ, Vidzŭ, and Slabodka rural councils. A decrease was noted in the territory of the Miazhański rural council. The lowest detection rate was in the district center and Vidzŭ rural council.
Inspections conducted by the prosecutor's office indicate that local executive and administrative bodies have not taken all necessary measures aimed at preventing offenses, alcoholism, domestic violence, and serious and especially serious crimes.
Raids to check compliance by organizations in the agricultural sector with the Directive of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 1 revealed instances of allowing vehicles with technical malfunctions that threaten road safety to operate without passing state technical inspection. Violations in the field of labor protection were identified in several organizations.
An unfavorable situation is developing regarding fire safety: during the past year, the number of fires increased from 3 to 13, resulting in 2 fatalities, whereas during the same period in 2016, there were no fire-related fatalities in the Braslaŭ District. It has been established that the measures taken in this direction by the RANS are insufficient. Cases of violations of fire safety legislation continue to be recorded.
The prosecutor's office pays significant attention to combating corruption and protecting the economic security of the state. During the past period of 2017, 3 corruption-related crimes were registered in the district, and one criminal case of this category was considered in court.
In addition, there is ongoing monitoring of compliance with legislation on citizens' appeals, the activities of student work brigades, the prevention of family failures, and accidents involving children.
