Education

The regional network of preschool establishments includes 27 educational establishments.

In 2006-2007, the regional network of educational institutions featured one gymnasium, 16 secondary schools, 17 basic schools and 5 primary schools.

One of the key tasks of the school reform is to raise the quality of education.
As the result of the reform, 42% of the school graduates in the region are admitted to the establishments of higher education, 28% - to vocational colleges.
In line with the regional programme “Gifted Children”, students take part in regional, oblastwide and national Olympiads, in the national contests in physics, informatics, in international competitions.

In the 2006-2007academic year, the students of the regional schools won 13 prizes in the oblastwide Olympiads. Three students of the region took part in the national Olympiad and one of them won a diploma.
