Over 57,000 family capital deposits opened in Belarus in five years

MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) – Over the past five years, the size of family capital has grown by 40.2%, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Labor and Social Protection told BelTA.
The ministry noted that the family capital program remains the most effective measure to encourage large families and helps maintain their number at around 120,000 annually. Every fourth child in the country is born into a large family.

To preserve the purchasing power of family capital, its size is indexed annually on a cumulative system. The press service emphasized that over the past five years the amount has increased by 40.2%, from Br23,737.5 in 2021 to Br33,275 in 2025.

By decision of the head of state, the family capital program has been extended until the end of 2029. Thanks to the innovations introduced in 2025, the construction of housing in apartment buildings no longer requires authorization from local authorities, which was previously mandatory. In addition, early use of family capital is now allowed for the purchase of shares in residential property, even if the shares are already owned by several members of the family. This also applies to repayment of loans obtained through refinancing to cover debts under earlier credit agreements for the construction, reconstruction, or purchase of housing.

Families have also been given the opportunity to pay for education, not only for the current and previous academic years, but also for the upcoming year in advance.

In total, more than 57,000 family capital deposits were opened between 2021 and 2025. Since the program’s launch in 2015, a total of 150,600 deposits have been opened. There have been 70,600 families applied for permission to use family capital ahead of schedule, of which 80% applied to use the money to improve housing conditions, 14% to pay for healthcare services, and 9% to pay for education.
